Pansy Elegance ‘Antoinette’

Japanese Pansy Elegance ‘Antoinette’ is not your ordinary garden-center pansy. These blooms are big, frilly, heavily ruffled, and dressed in the dreamiest mix of vintage pastels—lavender, blush pink, peach, butter yellow, creamy white, and soft purple, often with a dark center adding just the right amount of drama.

Part of the Elegance Series, the Antoinette Collection was bred by renowned Japanese horticulturist Isao Sato. Each semi-double bloom has layers of beautifully rumpled petals, and no two plants show up wearing quite the same outfit. Add them to containers, window boxes, borders, and other cool-season plantings when your garden could use something a little less ordinary.

Antoinette also comes with a pretty special story. Isao Sato’s pansy-breeding journey began during an internship at Tagawa Greenhouses in Colorado in the 1980s. He returned to Japan and spent decades creating distinctive pansies, eventually sharing the Antoinette Collection with Tagawa in honor of the relationship that helped start it all. A full-circle flower story—with exceptionally good ruffles.
