Peony ‘Belle Toulousaine’ (Intersectional / Itoh, 2006)
A rare peony in rich purple tones.
‘Belle Toulousaine’ produces large, fully double blooms in deep purple shades that stand out strongly in the peony garden. The layered petals form full, fluffy flowers that hold their shape well while the dark green foliage provides a clean backdrop for the blooms.
Plants grow to about 60 cm (24″) tall and flower in mid-season. Strong stems support the large blossoms well, making this variety suitable for both garden planting and cut flower production in a range of climates, including greenhouse cultivation.
Unusual color. Strong structure.

Intersectional peonies — often called Itoh peonies — were developed by Japanese breeder Toichi Itoh in the mid-20th century by crossing herbaceous peonies with tree peonies.
These hybrids combine the large blooms of tree peonies with the winter hardiness and garden reliability of herbaceous peonies, producing strong stems, excellent foliage, and long-lived plants.
