Ball

BA (Ball) over 3.5"

Height: 36-48”

Sweet Suzanne is a dreamy apricot-peach ball dahlia with softly glowing blooms, ruffled petal tips, and long, strong stems—perfect for cutting gardens and market bouquets.

Sweet Suzanne is one of those dahlias I find myself babying a little, just because she’s so pretty. The blooms have this soft apricot-peach glow with hints of yellow that makes every bucket look expensive, even if she’s mixed in with the everyday workhorses. Her stems are long and sturdy with good necks, so she’s easy to harvest and quick to use on the design table—no fussing, no drooping. As a sport of Sweet Fabienne she’s reliably productive, and I’ve never once regretted giving her space in the field. If you’re growing for bouquets or market, she earns her keep.

Dahlia ‘Sweet Suzanne’ is the kind of variety that makes you stop in the path and stare for a minute.

This ball dahlia opens in a soft, iridescent blend of apricot, peach, and creamy yellow, and the blooms almost seem to glow in the garden. The petals are textured and lightly ruffled at the tips, giving each flower beautiful dimension both on the plant and in the vase.

Introduced in 2020 by Maatschap van der Linden as a sport of ‘Sweet Fabienne’, Sweet Suzanne has quickly become a grower favorite for both production and beauty. The warm apricot-peach tones, kissed with hints of soft yellow, make it a perfect mixer for almost any bouquet palette—from romantic pastels to richer late-season colors.

In the garden and in the field, Sweet Suzanne delivers:

  • Upright plants with a tidy habit

  • Long, strong stems that are a dream for cutting

  • Sturdy necks that hold blooms upright in the field and in the vase

  • Reliable production, making it a great choice for market growers and home gardeners alike

If you grow dahlias for cutting, Sweet Suzanne is one of those “no regrets” varieties—soft color, strong stems, and plenty of blooms all season.

The Dahlia Files is our ever-growing library of blooms we’ve grown, loved, retired, and occasionally fired. Think of it as our not-so-secret vault: organized, categorized, and sometimes judged.

This is where we keep notes on every dahlia that’s passed through our fields—whether it’s a current favorite or a one-season wonder. These blooms aren’t for sale here (sad trombone 🎺), but you can see what is coming up or available to shop from the navigation bar, following on Instagram, and subscribing to the newsletter.
