What is so great about the Mistral series?
The Mistral anemone series is basically the VIP section of the anemone world—premium genetics, bred in Italy, and built for performance and beauty. Here’s what makes the Mistral line special:
🌬️ 1. Bred for Early, Reliable Blooming
Developed by Biancheri Creazioni, the same folks behind the Levante line, Mistral anemones are bred specifically for early-season blooming, even in cooler temps. That means more flowers, earlier, without having to wait for perfect weather.
🌸 2. Big, Showy Blooms
These flowers aren’t shy. Large, poppy-style blooms with rich, saturated colors—white, red, blue, purple, pink, bicolors, and even some doubles. The petals are silky, often with a dark central “eye,” which makes them pop in arrangements.
💪 3. Strong Stems = Florist Gold
Mistral anemones are known for their long, straight stems and excellent vase life, making them a go-to for florists and flower farmers. They're less floppy and more reliable than many older anemone types.
🧬 4. A Few Specialty Lines Within the Line
There are some subtypes within the Mistral brand that are worth noting:
-
Mistral Plus – Enhanced for uniform growth and even bigger blooms.
-
Mistral Rarity – Unique colors and forms not found in other lines.
-
Mistral Panda – A fan favorite with white petals and a dramatic dark center.

Grow & Care
Grow & Care
When planting ranunculus, place pre-soaked corms 4" deep into the soil. Water thoroughly after planting, and then water as needed to keep the roots from drying out.
Until blooms emerge, Ranunculus can tolerate temperatures brief temperature dips down to 23°F (no more than a couple of hours).
Lower temps or extended periods will need additional protection. Once blooms emerge, frost protection will be needed.
Ranunculus typically will stop producing buds when temperatures average above 70°F and will move towards dormancy as temperatures rise above 80°F.
See our extended guide for when to plant ranunculus in your zone.
